“Kosen-rufu” is the widespread declaration of the Great Law of Nichiren Daishonin and its propagation throughout the entire world for all eternity in the impure and evil age of the Latter Day of the Law (Mappo). The Bodhisattava Medicine King (Chapter 23) Chapter of the Lotus Sutra states”

“After my (Shakyamuni’s) passing, in the fifth five hundred year period thereafter, the Law will be propagated in the form of Kosen-rufu, throughout the world, and will not cease to exist.”

(Kaiketsu, p. 605)

The Lotus Sutra predicts that the Great Pure Law will spread all over the world in the Latter Day of the Law, when the teaching of Shakyamuni have declined and become obscured. The purpose of Kosen-rufu is to purify the people’s minds and the entire realm of the ultimate reality through the one, absolute, True Buddhism. At that time the Worldly (mundane) Law and Buddhist (supra-mundane) Law will be in perfect accord. This is Nichiren Daishonin’s will.
